Instead of asking, "What do your school counselors do?," the question should be "How are students different as a result of what the school counselors do?"
Mrs. Salter and Ms. Norment see students for counseling individually, in small groups, and in full classes. They coordinate the Student Leadership Program and the House System. They are also involved in coordinating multiple activities and events at Ridgewood.
Mrs. Salter also serves on the School Improvement Team at Ridgewood, is the chairperson for the PBIS/House committee, and Problem Solving Team (PST) coordinator. For the county, Mrs. Salter is a part of the Student Services Leadership Team, as well as the county-wide ASCA planning team. She also serves as an instructor in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention for Pitt County Schools.
