A part of Ridgewood...Ridgewood Elementary values the whole child. We believe that it is important to teach not only the academic curriculum to each student, but also to teach them life skills which will ultimately aid them in being happy and contributing citizens to our community. Character education is taught on a daily basis during Morning Meetings, and also integrated through out all areas of the curriculum. Service Learning is also a valuable tool in teaching our students about the importance of serving others. Ridgewood students have the opportunity to participate in multiple community activities through the year, as well as be a part of our Student Leadership Team.

Integrating PBISPositive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) at Ridgewood is implemented with a multi-tiered approach to social, emotional and behavior support. The broad purpose of PBIS is to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of schools and other agencies. PBIS improves social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students, including students with disabilities and students from underrepresented groups. While PBIS often focuses on extrinsic rewards, Character Education focuses on the importance of students finding intrinsic motivation for their actions. Ridgewood has worked hard to integrate both approaches in the education of our students.
